The painting gives an all-too-human force a surprising, abstract, and dynamic form. On a deep, abyssal blue, a powerful white circle of paint unfolds, drawn across the canvas in a broad gesture. The circular movement looks like a shield or a wheel that claims the center of the picture. Through gaps in the white paint and deliberately placed accents of red and gold, shadowy eyes gaze back at us – watchful, defiant, and with a hint of mischief. Vertical and horizontal intersecting lines divide the form, while fine drips of paint toward the bottom liquefy the rigid structure once more.
The work makes inner resistance tangible: not as a dark obstacle but as an energetic field that holds us back, protects us, and at the same time challenges us to move beyond our own horizons.
